Dear blog readers,
I am in a blog identity crisis. Here, I said it!
I started my blog 5 years ago with only one wish and one purpose: sharing beautiful, important, and/or personal things with you. I have never intended to become a professional blogger, I had to do the blogging on the side, since I already work 50 - 60 hours a week designing and doing business. Of course I noticed along the way that a lot of blog visitors eventually landed on my work-website as well and sometimes that even generated business.
During the past 5 years however, my online world has changed dramatically. I started using Twitter for sharing my thoughts, Pinterest for sharing images and Instagram (see above) to share photo's from my daily life. Especially INSTAGRAM has become important to me: I take photo's from my work in progress, the food I eat, my ancestors, flowers that Peter buys for me, my interior, new stuff I bought...
The necessity of blogging started fading away over the years, the 'sharing-part' had been gradually taken over by the other media, which I noticed to be rather time consuming.
- Is there a future for blogs like mine?
- What would be the role my blog could play next to the other media?
- How can I keep it doable (time!) next to Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest?
Secretly my dream would be working with Storehouse (new iPad-only medium for telling stories in words and images) and make features with deeper comtemplations and interviews, accompagnied by gorgeous photo's. Since my priority and my focus are on designing, doing business and providing for my family, I would have to investigate first how quick and easy working with Storehouse would be.
Feels good to get this off my chest, to share (!!) it with you...
Whether you are in the same situation or not: I would love to hear your opinion about this!
